Wolverine and the X-Men continues its gripping saga with Hindsight (Part 2), where Wolverine and Beast are on an urgent quest to reunite their team. The episode kicks off with a bang as Magneto’s Brotherhood of Mutants, including Quicksilver, the Blob, and Domino, stage a daring rescue of Toad from an MRD patrol car.
The tension escalates with Senator Kelly’s introduction, advocating an anti-mutant policy and showcasing a menacing new Sentinel Drone. The situation quickly escalates into pandemonium when Rogue is detected in the audience, leading to a spectacular showdown as Rogue, Wolverine, Beast, and Angel join forces to subdue the mechanical threat.
The episode ends with a shocking twist: Wolverine uncovers Rogue’s defection to the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, who are conspiring to take out Senator Kelly.
The animation impresses with its meticulous detail and dynamic execution, while the voice acting adds depth to the vivid characters. The plot is a rollercoaster of emotions and thrills, demonstrating the show’s exceptional fusion of high-stakes action, complex intrigue, and rich character arcs.
While transporting Toad to the Mutant Response Division, police officers are ambushed by the Blob and other mutants who liberate Toad. Quicksilver then relays a bold message from the Brotherhood of Mutants to the police for Senator Robert Kelly, declaring their unstoppable intent and targeting him next.
Subsequently, Senator Kelly, in a public address, reveals the Sentinel Prowler, a mutant-hunting automaton. The Prowler, detecting Rogue among the spectators, pursues her, prompting Angel and Beast to step in, with Wolverine ultimately dismantling the robot.
Rogue decides to part ways with the X-Men, with Logan in pursuit, attempting to persuade her to reconsider. She stands firm, disillusioned by inconsistent leadership. Logan later discusses potential recruits with Beast.
The Brotherhood, that evening, entices Rogue with a sense of belonging and immediate action, contrasting the X-Men’s approach. Intrigued, Rogue agrees to join them temporarily.
Meanwhile, Scott Summers, secluded in a dilapidated hotel, tunes into a news segment on Kelly’s forthcoming press event. Logan confronts him about his withdrawal post-Jean Grey‘s vanishing. Concurrently, the Brotherhood wreaks havoc on Kelly’s residence and commandeers his vehicle.
Logan, alongside Beast, enlists Bobby Drake and Kitty Pryde into the X-Men fold. Upon their return, they’re greeted by Rogue at the Xavier Mansion, who discloses her intent to re-join and unveils the Brotherhood’s assassination plot against Kelly.
During Kelly’s conference, the Brotherhood launches an assault, which the X-Men counteract, safeguarding Kelly and clashing with MRD forces. They strategically withdraw upon realizing the Brotherhood’s ploy to frame them.
In the aftermath, the X-Men gather in Beast’s laboratory, watching Kelly’s broadcast about the imminent enactment of the Mutant Registration Act. Wolverine receives intel from Warren, dispelling the notion that the MRD captured Rogue, who likely fled out of guilt. That evening, the Brotherhood celebrates Rogue’s induction.

Toad’s portrayal seems to draw inspiration from his depiction in the Ultimate X-Men series, much like his character in X-Men: Evolution, which itself was influenced by his insect-consuming iteration from the X-Men film.
The Brotherhood’s plot to eliminate Kelly echoes the various adaptations of the Days of Future Past storyline.
The dynamic between Warren and his father, which was not extensively explored in the comics, finds its roots in the film X-Men: The Last Stand.
Rogue’s attire, featuring a green hood, mirrors Anna Paquin’s portrayal in the inaugural X-Men movie, while her hairstyle is reminiscent of her comic book appearance during that period.
Warren’s strained relationship with Wolverine is evident, with Warren having once abandoned the team, unwilling to collaborate with Logan in Uncanny X-Men #148.
The narrative introduces the Mutant Registration Act and the Sentinel Program, recurring elements in X-Men storylines.
Rogue’s initial association with the Brotherhood is depicted in her debut in Avengers Annual #10.
Domino is predominantly recognized for her roles with the X-Men and X-Force in the comics, rather than with the Brotherhood.
Cyclops exhibits a sombre demeanor following Jean’s loss, mirroring his character in X-Men: The Last Stand, and a confrontation similar to one involving an optic blast, Wolverine and a wall in Astonishing X-Men #1.
Bobby’s parents in the comics are portrayed with personalities that align with their depiction in the film X2, and Bobby’s costume and hair colour are styled after his Ultimate X-Men version, as opposed to his original 616 design.
Kitty’s father, Carmen Pryde, was present on Genosha during the Wild-Sentinel attack in New X-Men #115, a detail unveiled in the Mekanix mini-series.
