In the aftermath of a devastating attack, troops and journalists flood the remains of the Institute, where anti-mutant sentiment is at its peak. Amidst the chaos, Rogue and Logan narrowly evade a clash with soldiers in a store. Meanwhile, Ororo and Hank stand up for mutant rights during a tense congressional hearing. Elsewhere, the unstoppable Juggernaut wreaks havoc, drawing the military into a relentless pursuit.
The younger members of the X-Men, seeking refuge in a cave, witness the hearing from afar. Their sanctuary is compromised when the military zeroes in on their location, forcing them to flee aboard the X-Jet, unfortunately leaving Logan behind. News of Juggernaut’s destructive spree reaches them, compelling them to take action.
A fierce confrontation unfolds at a dam, where the X-Men engage in a desperate struggle against Juggernaut. In a daring move, they succeed in confining him within the structure. Rogue bravely removes his helmet, allowing her to absorb his formidable powers. With her newfound strength, she hurls him from the dam, and Iceman, in a display of his chilling abilities, freezes Juggernaut in a spectacular mid-air spectacle.
Back at the hearing, Ororo eloquently justifies the X-Men’s intervention. Rogue, now privy to Juggernaut’s memories, discloses the whereabouts of Xavier, leading to his discovery in a high-security containment unit.
The president exonerates the X-Men, incarcerates Bolivar Trask, and advocates for a more accepting stance towards mutants. This historic decision is observed by Magneto and his followers, who watch intently as the president’s speech is broadcasted nationwide.

Storm will leave a lasting impression during a Congress hearing in X-Men 97‘s Mutant Liberation Begins, though it concludes less favourably than in this episode.
Cyclops assumes leadership of the team in Xavier’s absence, leading to a bitter clash with Logan, reminiscent of their altercation in X-Men #1.
Juggernaut’s progression mirrors scenes from The Juggernaut Returns in X-Men. This episode shares several elements with The Unstoppable Juggernaut: the school lies in ruins, the X-Men are unaware of Xavier’s whereabouts, and they confront Juggernaut alone.
Both in this episode and The Unstoppable Juggernaut, Rogue assimilates Cain’s life essence, gaining his strength and psyche.
