Wolverine‘s sleep is interrupted by a nightmare in which a young girl screams for her father, on the floor of a burning barn, with Logan standing over him. Logan believes this is an event from his past, but can’t recall the actual events, apart from a distinctive looking mountain range with twin peaks. A quick chat with Emma and a psychic scan indicates they are memories and Bobby finds the location online.
Wolverine travels solo to the region, finding the remains of the burnt out barn. He is attacked by a woman with geological powers, controlling the Earth around her. She is the man’s daughter from his nightmare. She wants answers, but Logan doesn’t know. At the same time, at the Weapon X facility, Dr. Cornelius talks to Professor Thornton who sends Sabretooth to prevent Logan from discovering the truth.
Wolverine manages to fill in some of the blanks of his past the more time he spends with the young woman, named Kristy Nord. Her father, Christophe Nord, was also a mutant, with kinetic energy powers. Logan had been an operative for Team X at the time, under Sabretooth’s command. Their assignment to secure Nord had been complicated by his daughter and Logan refused the mission. Sabretooth intervened and completed the mission, leaving Logan and Kristy for dead. Now, he’s back to finish the assignment.
At the Brotherhood‘s squat, Rogue is curious over what Pietro is hiding. She discovers that Quicksilver is waiting to be welcomed to Genosha and that his next assignment from Magneto will be big.
At the cabin, Sabretooth is defeated by Wolverine with assistance from Kristy. Sabretooth returns to Weapon X and informs the Professor that Logan still doesn’t remember anything and taunts agent Maverick with his daughter. Maverick, Christophe Nord, still alive and amnesiac, has no idea what Creed is talking about…

Emma Frost’s romantic designs on Scott Summers begin in this episode. During New X-Men, Emma and Scott engaged in an affair that essentially ended the Cyclops-Jean Grey romance. In a neat touch, when Wolverine catches her, Emma’s fake British accent slips into her Bostonian one.
Doctor Cornelius, the Professor and Sabretooth were all plot points from the Hulk vs. Wolverine animated feature.
Christophe Nord, aka Maverick first appeared in X-Men #5. In the comics, he doesn’t have a daughter, but was part of the Team X program.
Mystique and Logan have a history in the comics, showcased in the Get Mystique! storyline. Depending on her mood, they are either hated enemies or passionate lovers.
During the climactic battle between Wolverine and Sabretooth, Wolverine dispatches Sabretooth with a large tree log – just as Sabretooth did to him in X-Men. Once again Sabretooth is flung from a great height into icy cold water: see Cold Vengeance and the first X-Men movie.
