PERSONAL NOTES OF CHARLES XAVIER
“Today, I reflect on one of my most cherished pupils, Rahne Sinclair, also known as Wolfsbane. Her journey with us has been both tumultuous and inspiring, marked by incredible growth and resilience. Rahne first came into our fold as Moira MacTaggert’s long-time ward. Moira, recognizing her extraordinary abilities and turbulent past, believed that the Institute would offer Rahne the sanctuary and support she desperately needed.
From the moment Rahne joined the New Mutants, it was evident she possessed immense potential. Her ability to transform into a wolf was both a gift and a curse, shaped by the scars left by Reverend Craig, her abusive guardian. Rahne’s upbringing in a strict, religious environment had instilled in her a deep sense of guilt and fear, branding her very soul. This internal struggle was a constant companion, influencing her interactions with her peers and her perception of self-worth.
As a member of the New Mutants, Rahne found companionship and a semblance of family. It was within this group that she began to understand the true meaning of acceptance and the value of her unique abilities. Her bond with her fellow mutants, particularly Dani Moonstar, helped her navigate the complexities of her powers and the emotional wounds inflicted by her past.
Rahne’s path took a significant turn when she joined X-Factor, the government-sponsored team led by Havok, and later, Forge. This new chapter in her life presented its own set of challenges and opportunities. Rahne’s sense of duty and desire to protect others found a new outlet in X-Factor, allowing her to develop a stronger sense of identity and purpose. The rigorous training and missions helped her hone her abilities and build confidence in her role as a hero.
Her journey came full circle when she returned to her native Scotland, joining the ranks of Excalibur. This team, deeply rooted in the mystical and the fantastical, was a fitting environment for Rahne to confront the lingering shadows of her past. Here, she not only continued her personal growth but also embraced the rich heritage of her homeland. Her time with Excalibur allowed her to reconcile her dual nature, finding harmony between her human and lupine selves.
Throughout the years, Rahne’s achievements have been a testament to her strength and resilience. She has faced numerous adversaries, both external and internal, emerging from each battle more mature and self-assured. Rahne’s journey is a powerful reminder that true growth often comes from facing one’s deepest fears and embracing one’s true nature.
In Rahne Sinclair, we see the embodiment of courage, compassion, and unwavering determination. Her evolution from a frightened, guilt-ridden girl to a confident and capable hero is a narrative that continues to inspire all who have had the privilege of witnessing her journey.”

FILM SERIES

FIRST APPEARANCE: The New Mutants
PLAYED BY: Maisie Williams
When Dani Moonstar arrives at Milbury Hospital, she’s introduced to four other young mutants: Sam Guthrie, who can rocket through the air, Illyana Rasputin, who can use magic and travel between dimensions, Roberto da Costa, who can transform into a humanoid sun, and Rahne Sinclair, who has lycanthropy. Rahne’s backstory reveals she escaped from a strict religious village that branded her.
Things are rough for Dani at first, as Illyana insults and belittles her. After a failed escape attempt, Dani tries to jump from the church tower, but Rahne stops her, sparking a romantic interest between them. Later, Rahne hears the voices of her villagers in the confessional booth, reminding her of her past.
The group bonds when Illyana spikes Cecilia Reyes’ coffee with sleeping pills, and they run wild on the hospital grounds. They believe they are being trained to become X-Men under strict supervision, with Reyes reminding them they are dangerous and must stay until they are in control. Dani and Rahne enter a romantic relationship. However, Rahne experiences another vision of Father Craig Sinclair branding her, leading the group to find her severely injured. Illyana confronts Dani, knowing her power, but Reyes prevents the fight.
Reyes consults her employers at Essex Corporation, who instruct her to kill Dani. As Reyes takes Dani away, Rahne senses something is wrong. Dani uses her powers to uncover Reyes’ true intent, and Rahne arrives just in time to injure Reyes, forcing her to flee. The New Mutants regroup and realize they must kill Reyes to escape. They confront her, and she reveals that Essex trained them to be killers and that Dani’s powers are too dangerous. During the fight with the Demon Bear, Rahne tries to reach an unconscious Dani and eventually joins the battle.
As dawn breaks, the New Mutants gather their belongings. Sam notices the barrier is down, and they decide to head into town, unsure if Reyes’ claim of it being twenty miles away was true. They set off together as a family, with Dani and Rahne continuing their relationship and facing the unknown together.
