[MUTANT ABILITIES] Technological genius
…ACCESSING…
PERSONAL NOTES OF CHARLES XAVIER
“It has been some time since I last reflected on the enigmatic figure known as Forge, a mutant whose path has intertwined with that of the X-Men in many profound and unexpected ways. Born into a Native American Cheyenne family, Forge’s early life was marked by his deep connection to his people’s mystical traditions and his budding technical genius.
Before he joined our ranks, Forge served with distinction in the United States Army, where he honed not only his physical and tactical skills but also developed an array of cutting-edge devices and weaponry. His ingenuity and prowess on the battlefield were unparalleled, and yet, it was the haunting events of the Vietnam War that would ultimately shape his destiny. It was during this tumultuous period that Forge first tapped into his mystical heritage, calling upon the ancient spirits to conjure a spell of destruction—a decision that would weigh heavily on his conscience for years to come.
Forge’s mutant ability to intuitively understand and construct any mechanical device sets him apart as one of the most unique and valuable members of our team. His workshop is a testament to his brilliance, filled with inventions and gadgets that have repeatedly proven crucial in our ongoing struggle to protect both mutants and humans. From repairing Cerebro and the Danger Room to designing the ever-resilient Blackbird, Forge’s contributions to the X-Men’s technological arsenal cannot be overstated.
Yet, Forge’s story is not solely one of machines and inventions. His mystical background endows him with a profound understanding of the delicate balance between technology and nature, and he often serves as a bridge between these seemingly disparate realms. This duality within him makes Forge an indispensable asset in our efforts to promote harmony and understanding between mutants and the broader world.
In the realm of mutant affairs, Forge has repeatedly demonstrated his commitment to our cause. Whether through his invention of the collar that temporarily de-powers mutants or his strategic support in our battles against adversaries such as the Mastermold and the MRD, Forge’s actions consistently reflect his desire to protect and uplift mutantkind. His emotional ties to our team, particularly his connection to Storm, reveal a deeply empathetic and loyal individual who, despite his often solitary nature, cares deeply for his fellow X-Men.
As I reflect on Forge’s journey, I am reminded of the complexity and depth that each member brings to our collective mission. Forge’s unique blend of technical genius, mystical insight, and unwavering dedication serves as a beacon of hope and resilience, inspiring us all to strive for a better, more harmonious future.”

X-MEN

FIRST APPEARANCE: Days of Future Past (Part 1)
VOICED BY: Marc Strange (X-Men); Gil Birmingham (X-Men ’97)
Forge has two separate story stands in this continuity. In Bishop’s alternate timeline, he’s a keen inventor and rebel, who seeks to change the past to change his present from the Sentinel apocalypse that followed an important event. He invents the time device to send Logan back in time, but Bishop makes the journey in his place [Days of Future Past (Part 1)]. When Bishop returns from his journey into the past, he finds the future is still a mess, and Forge claims that something else must have happened [Days of Future Past (Part 2)].
Forge sends Bishop back again, this time to prevent a mutant plague. Once again, Bishop is unsuccessful [Time Fugitives]. When Bishop alters the past in an attempt to stop an assassin, a different, unknown Forge takes his place [One Man’s Worth]. When Bishop vanishes in the time stream, Forge sends Shard back in time to save him. Whether this future still exists is unknown. [The End of Time].
In the X-Men’s present day, Forge worked with the US Government, specifically scientist Gottfried Adler, a Genoshan scientist who invented the Genoshan mutant dampening collars [Lifedeath (Part 1)]. He was working with the Government at Kirby Glenn when former X-Men Bobby Drake and the X-Men invaded the base. He send his own team, X-Factor, against them, joking that a ‘skirmish’ with the X-Men would give them a few pointers [Cold Comfort]. He, along with the team, would watch Magneto make his offer of sanctuary to the world [Sanctuary].
Forge met Beast and Warlock in public during the Phalanx’ attempted assimilation of all life on Earth. It was his genius that came up with a way to expunge the techno-organic virus and also his shielding that allowed the ragtag team of mutants to infiltrate the alien stronghold and effect their plan [The Phalanx Covenant].
When Storm was hit by the Neutraliser ray and lost her powers, Forge found her after she had left the X-Men and took her in [Fire Made Flesh]. In the desert, away from the world, the two fell in love and faced the Adversary, while Forge admitted that the ray had been based on his work [Lifedeath (Part 1); (Part 2)].
When Storm returned to the X-Men, Forge donned a uniform and went with her. When the team was presumed killed, Forge took control of the mansion and began looking for a new team of X-Men… [Tolerance is Extinction].

X-MEN: EVOLUTION

FIRST APPEARANCE: Middleverse
VOICED BY: Sam Vincent
Forge, which was a nickname it seems, was a student at Bayville High at some point in the 1970’s. When his mutant ability to invent kicked into gear, he began building various devices, one of which displaced him in time, allowing him to appear to Nightcrawler after the device was located decades later. Once the situation was resolved, Forge returned to to the present, and had a great amount of explaining to do to his parents [Middleverse].
A year later, Forge was helping to investigate the dimension which Nightcrawler teleported through when using his powers. Their experiments accidentally let a group of demons from the other dimension through. Although Forge wanted to continue with his work, at Nightcrawler’s insistence, the project was dropped [Shadow Dance].
WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN

FIRST APPEARANCE: Hindsight (Part 3)
When Wolverine reassembled the X-Men, Forge stepped in as the resident gadget genius. He resurrected Cerebro and the Danger Room after the institute was left in ruins. Forge also crafted a new version of the Blackbird, which got destroyed, prompting yet another rebuild [Hindsight (Part 3)]. Missions weren’t his usual scene due to his limited field experience, but Forge was always eager to prove himself and support the X-Men. On a rare mission with Shadowcat and Wolverine, Forge hacked into the Mastermold IT system. Kitty hid him in the back of an MRD truck, forcing her to rescue him later [Badlands].
Forge was fiercely protective of his inventions and warned Wolverine to handle them with care. When the X-Men set out to find Storm, Forge showed up to warn them, possibly driven by an emotional bond with her. He also invented a collar to temporarily de-power mutants, which was crucial in calming Magma as she fled from the MRD. This collar later attracted the attention of Dr. Kavita, who hired Gambit to steal it [Thieves’ Gambit].
