“Frederick J. Dukes – known to most as Blob – is a mutant whose power is as undeniable as his presence. His mutation grants him an extraordinary density, rendering him nearly immovable when he chooses to stand his ground. His strength, endurance, and durability make him a formidable force, yet his greatest battles have never been physical—they have been internal.

From the moment his mutation manifested, Fred was marked as different. His size, his abilities, his very existence set him apart. He found fleeting acceptance in the circus, where his immovability became a spectacle rather than a burden. But the world outside was far less forgiving.

He has walked many paths – sometimes as an adversary, sometimes as an ally. He has fought alongside the Brotherhood, clashed with the X-Men, and, for a time, even sought redemption. There was a period when he ran a bar, a quiet attempt at normalcy, much like Avalanche before him. It was a rare moment of peace, a space where he could exist without the weight of expectation.

For all his bravado, Fred has always longed for acceptance. He has been manipulated, discarded, and underestimated. And yet, he endures. His strength is not merely physical – it is the resilience to keep moving forward, even when the world refuses to make space for him.

Perhaps, in time, he will find the place he has always sought.”

FIRST APPEARANCE: X-Men Origins: Wolverine
OTHER APPEARANCES: X-Men: Apocalypse
PLAYED BY: Kevin Durand

Fred J. Dukes, known as Blob, is introduced as a member of Team X, a mutant strike force led by William Stryker. During a mission in Vietnam, he demonstrates his immense strength by destroying a tank with his bare hands. However, after Wolverine leaves the team, Blob develops an eating disorder, causing him to gain significant weight.

Years later, Wolverine tracks him down for information on Stryker’s operations. Blob challenges him to a boxing match, using his durability to withstand Logan’s attacks. Though initially dominant, he is ultimately knocked out when Wolverine smashes his fist onto Blob’s head. Upon regaining consciousness, Blob reveals key details about Stryker’s experiments, leading Wolverine to The Island where mutants are being held. Sabretooth later alludes that he has killed Dukes whilst tracking Logan down, but this is never confirmed.

In the revised timeline, a version of the Blob was seen battling and being defeated by Angel in a mutant cage fight [X-Men: Apocalypse].

FIRST APPEARANCE: Mutant Crush
VOICED BY: Michael Dobson

A powerhouse of brute strength, Blob is one of the Brotherhood’s most physically imposing members. His near-impenetrable body makes him a formidable opponent, capable of overwhelming enemies with sheer force.

Unlike previous versions, Blob is portrayed with a more comedic edge. His rivalry with Toad provides moments of humor, but when the Brotherhood is called to action, Blob proves he’s more than just comic relief.

Despite his loyalty to Mystique, Blob occasionally shows signs of independent thought, questioning orders and expressing frustration with the Brotherhood’s lack of direction.

FIRST APPEARANCE: Hindsight (Part 2)
VOICED BY: Stephen Stanton

A powerhouse of brute strength, Blob is a loyal member of the Brotherhood, using his near-impenetrable body to overwhelm opponents. While often dismissed as simple-minded, he possesses a keen sense of loyalty and an unwavering belief in Magneto’s vision.

Blob’s presence in battle is devastating — his sheer mass makes him nearly immovable, allowing him to act as both a shield and a wrecking force. His rivalry with Toad provides moments of humor, but when the Brotherhood is called to action, Blob is a force to be reckoned with.
