“Betsy Braddock has always been a warrior, though the shape of that warrior has changed more than most. Her arrival into the X-Men’s world was marked by fire and blood – thrust into the chaos of the Mutant Massacre, she proved herself against Sabretooth, standing firm when others doubted her resolve. It was then that I knew she belonged among us.

In the Australian outback, she became our resident telepath, guiding the team through unseen threats. But fate had other plans. Spiral’s machinations tore her from herself, placing her mind into the body of a deadly ninja. The transition was violent, disorienting, and yet, she adapted. She became Psylocke, a warrior in both mind and body.

Her identity has been a battle all its own. Kwannonher counterpart, her mirrorwas both a rival and a reflection. Two halves of the same coin, forced into an existence neither asked for. It took years for Betsy to make peace with that fractured reality, to reclaim herself and find balance.

And now, she has taken on the mantle of Captain Britain, a title once held by her brother. It is a role steeped in duty, in legacy, in expectation. But Betsy has never been one to follow a predetermined path. She wears the title in her own way, forging a future that is hers alone.

Despite all the changes, all the transformations, her true spirit remains where it has always belonged—with the X-Men. She is one of us, not because of the body she inhabits, but because of the heart that drives her forward.”

APPEARANCES ON-SCREEN (Movies)

FIRST APPEARANCE: Beyond Good and Evil (Part 2): Promise of Apocalypse
VOICED BY: Tasha Simms (X-Men)

The thief known only as Psylocke invaded the home of Warren Worthing III, the former and future X-Man. Her intention was to steal from the wealthy millionaire to help fund her brother’s crusade to make the world a better place for everyone, including mutants. She did not reveal her brother’s name.

Caught in the act by Worthington, she fired her psychic knives at him, which he dodged easily. Attempting to escape she threw herself of a cliff. Archangel swooped down and rescued her, which it turned out had been her plan: she knew he wouldn’t let her die. Shocking him unconscious, she left Worthington Manor with her loot, unaware that Archangel was now awake, curious and eager to follow.

Arriving in London, Warren confronted the ninja thief in her warehouse, but the two were attacked by Mystique and Sabretooth. The fight became even more deadly when Wolverine, Shard and Magneto also joined the fray, Magneto eventually spiriting Psylocke away with him through a dimensional portal [Beyond Good and Evil (Part 2): Promise of Apocalypse].

Psylocke was taken to the Axis as time, one of the psychic to be used in his makeshift engine to control all of time. As the final battle approached, Bishop started to free psychics, starting with Psylocke, who he helped to safety.

When the X-Men returned home, Psylocke and Archangel were amongst them, clearly having bonded during their time together [Beyond Good and Evil (Part 4): End and Beginning].

Psylocke was next seen on Genosha, mourning the dead, and helping refund the community alongside Alpha Flight when the Prime Sentinels attacked the world [Tolerance is Extinction (Part 3)].

FIRST APPEARANCE: X-Men: The Last Stand
OTHER APPEARANCES: X-Men: Apocalypse; Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine
PLAYED BY:  Meiling Melançon (X-Men: The Last Stand); Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse); Ayesha Hussain (Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine)

A version of Psylocke, specifically with her comic book counterpart’s shadow powers, appeared amongst the Omegas and sided with Magneto. During Jean Grey’s attack on the island, after planning to kill Warren Worthington II, the Omegas, including Psylocke were vaporised by Jean as they tried to escape [X-Men: The Last Stand].

Following the timeline change, Psylocke was now a mercenary, working for the information broker Caliban. When Apocalypse sensed her power, he offered Psylocke a role as one of his Horsemen, which she accepted.

Battling the X-Men to a standstill, eventually Psylocke was the only Horsemen left as the others betrayed their master, striking against Apocalypse. When Apocalypse fell, Psylocke observed the entire battle, leaving before she could be detected. Some theories suggest that an essence of Apocalypse may have transferred to her mind in the process [X-Men: Apocalypse].

Another version of Psylocke, this one similar to the one who served Apocalypse, appeared to serve Cassandra Nova in the Void [Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine].

FIRST APPEARANCE: Timebomb
PLAYED BY: Grey DeLisle

A British mutant in an Asian body, Psylocke had a strong moral compass. She cared for the unfortunate around her and did what she could to resolve their problems in her own way, usually through her telepathy.

Psylocke, although not a villain, was asked by Quicksilver to keep a mental lock on their latest Brotherhood member, Nitro, who could explode and reconstitute himself. All Psylocke had to do was keep him stable while they transported him to safety on Genosha. Psylocke was weary, but she agreed.

When their transport was intercepted by the X-Men, warning them of Nitro’s destructive power, Psylocke became distracted and lost her control. Falling short against Emma Frost’s superior telepathic powers, Psylocke left with the Brotherhood and abandoned them as soon as she could.
