PERSONAL NOTES OF CHARLES XAVIER
“Shard Bishop was never meant to be here. Not in this time, not in this world. And yet, she has carved a place for herself, despite the impossible circumstances of her existence.
Born in a future where mutants were branded and hunted, Shard rose through the ranks of the Xavier Security Enforcers alongside her brother, Bishop. She was the youngest officer to ever command a squad, a testament to her skill and determination. But fate was cruel. Betrayed by Trevor Fitzroy, the man she once loved, she was ambushed by Emplates – creatures that fed on mutant energy. The infection spread through her, consuming her body, until Bishop was forced to make an unthinkable choice. He killed his own sister rather than let her become a monster.
But death was not the end for Shard. Her essence was preserved in a holographic matrix, a ghost of the woman she once was. When Bishop travelled back in time, she came with him, existing as a digital construct, a memory given form. She fought alongside the X-Men, later joining X-Factor, proving that even in this spectral state, she was still a warrior.
Her journey has been one of adaptation, of survival beyond survival. She has struggled with what it means to be real, to be whole. And yet, she has never stopped fighting. She has never stopped protecting those who need her.
Shard was once the guardian of the next generation of mutants. Perhaps, in time, she will find a way to reclaim herself – not as a shadow of the past, but as a force for the future.”
X-MEN

FIRST APPEARANCE: One Man’s Worth (Part 1)
VOICED BY: Sandi Ross (X-Men); Kimberly Woods (X-Men ’97)
Bishop’s younger sister and also a fellow member of the Xavier School Enforcers, Shard fought for mutant rights in a future ruled by separation and Sentinels. On one occasion, Bishop and Shard were sent to 1955 to save the life of Charles Xavier from a mutant terrorist working for Mastermold, named Trevor Fitzroy. Failing in their first attempt, the brother and sister found themselves in an alternate America, where Xavier had never formed the X-Men and humans had fought back, exterminating mutant kind. Magneto had assembled a rag tag different team of X-Men together here, and two of their number, a married Wolverine and Storm, elected to travel through time back to 1955 with the duo to ensure their reality wouldn’t come to pass [One Man’s Worth (Part 1)].
In their second attempt, they succeeded, saving Xavier with Fitzroy’s help. With the damage to the timeline restored, Shard returned to the future ahead of Bishop [One Man’s Worth (Part 2)].
Bishop never arrived at his destination, being swept off course by another time traveller. In an effort to trace her brother, Shard went back in time to the Nineties and found herself present at the wedding of Cyclops and Jean Grey [The End of Time]. When Apocalypse’s plan to control time began, Shard was still with the X-Men in the present day [Promise of Apocalypse; The Lazarus Chamber]. When the battle ended, she was reunited with her brother and they returned to the future [End and Beginning]. On another trip back through time, Bishop was stranded in the 20th Century and Madelyne, when powered up as the Goblin Queen, played on his leaving Shard alone, taunting him about his sister’s fate [Fire Made Flesh].
