PERSONAL NOTES OF CHARLES XAVIER
“There are mutants whose abilities grant them the power to shape the world, to inspire, to lead. And then there are those whose gifts are a curse, whose very existence is defined by destruction. Arkady Rossovich – Omega Red – is the latter. He is not a man driven by ideology or purpose. He is a predator, forged in cruelty, sustained by death.
His history is steeped in blood. A serial killer before his mutation even manifested, Rossovich was captured by the Soviet government and subjected to brutal experimentation. They sought to create their own super-soldier, a weapon to rival Captain America. What they created instead was something far worse. His body was enhanced with Carbonadium coils – less durable than adamantium, but far more insidious. They poison him, forcing him to drain the life force of others to survive. He is a parasite, his very existence dependent on the suffering of those around him.
The Soviet Union deemed him too dangerous, too unstable, and sealed him away in cryogenic suspension. But men like Rossovich do not remain buried forever. He was revived, manipulated, and unleashed upon the world, his hatred for Wolverine driving him into endless conflict with the X-Men. He has fought alongside the Hand, the Red Mafia, and countless other factions, but he has never truly belonged to any of them. He is a weapon, used and discarded, always seeking vengeance, always seeking blood.
There is no redemption for Omega Red. He does not seek it. He does not desire peace, nor does he fight for a cause greater than himself. He is rage incarnate, a force of destruction that cannot be reasoned with. And yet, for all his brutality, he is not invincible. He has been defeated, killed, resurrected, and broken. But men like Rossovich do not stay dead. They linger, waiting for the next opportunity to strike.
I have spent my life believing that every mutant deserves a chance to find their place in the world. But Omega Red is not a man searching for purpose. He is a man who thrives in chaos, who exists only to take, to kill, to destroy. And as long as he walks this earth, he will remain a reminder that not all mutations are a gift. Some are a curse.”

X-MEN

FIRST APPEARANCE: Deadly Reunions
VOICED BY: Len Doncheff (X-Men)
Thawed out by Soviets wishing to restore the sovereignty of the USSR, Omega Red was sent to Moscow by his leaders to crush and quell any sign of rebellion. This brought him into conflict with Colossus, who sought the help of the X-Men.
After a pitched battle against the X-Men and Colossus, as well as fellow Russian Darkstar, Omega Red was placed on ice again [Red Dawn]. Wolverine very rarely talked about his past with Omega Red, save that he had lost friends [Deadly Reunions]. These friends however were not as lost as they appeared [Weapon X, Lies and Videotape].
Thawed to secure a submarine with nuclear warheads for his leaders, Omega requested aid on his mission to the sea depths: Wolverine and Storm. Again seeking vengeance, Omega attempted to kill the two X-Men and hold the world to ransom with the warheads. Stopped by the timely efforts of Beast and Rogue, Omega was eventually left on the sinking submarine as it fell into a deep trench [A Deal with the Devil]. He was left alone, but a few years later he had somehow escaped and was back in his mother Russia [Tolerance is for Extinction (Part 3)].
