PERSONAL NOTES OF CHARLES XAVIER
“Amara Aquilla is a woman caught between two worlds – one ancient, one modern. Raised in Nova Roma, a hidden colony modelled after the Roman Republic, she was taught to embrace tradition, duty, and the rigid structures of her homeland. Yet, fate had other plans. When she discovered her mutant abilities – the power to manipulate magma and transform into a being of living fire – her life was forever altered.
Her introduction to the New Mutants was not by choice. She was captured, disguised as a native, and thrown into a conflict she did not understand. But once her powers manifested, there was no turning back. She became Magma, a force of nature, wielding the earth’s fury with precision and strength. Though she struggled to adapt to life outside Nova Roma, she proved herself a capable warrior, standing alongside her teammates in battles that tested her resolve.
Amara’s journey has been one of constant transformation. She has walked many paths – joining the Hellions, returning to Nova Roma, and later reuniting with the X-Men. At times, she has been distant, reluctant to embrace the mutant cause fully. Her loyalty to her heritage has often conflicted with her place among her peers, leaving her in a state of perpetual uncertainty.
Yet, despite her struggles, Amara remains a formidable presence. Her power is immense, her will unyielding. She is not defined by any single allegiance, but rather by the choices she makes in each moment. Whether she stands with the X-Men or walks her own path, she carries the fire of her ancestors within her – a fire that will never be extinguished.”

X-MEN: EVOLUTION

FIRST APPEARANCE: Growing Pains
VOICED BY: Alexandra Carter
As a member of the New Mutants, Amara struggled with adapting to life in America, often feeling out of place among her peers. Despite her initial insecurities, she formed close friendships with Jubilee, Boom Boom, and Sunspot, finding comfort in their shared experiences as young mutants. Over time, she grew more confident, embracing her abilities and proving herself in battle.
Magma’s powers allow her to control tectonic activity, summon lava, and generate intense heat capable of melting steel. When fully transformed, her body becomes a glowing, molten form, making her nearly impervious to physical attacks. However, her abilities are tied to the earth – if she is separated from solid ground for too long, she becomes disoriented and weak.
Though she is not a frontline fighter like the X-Men’s senior members, Amara has demonstrated bravery and determination, standing alongside her teammates in critical moments. She briefly joined the Bayville Sirens, a rebellious group led by Jean Grey, but ultimately returned to the Institute, realizing that her true path lay with the X-Men.
WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN

FIRST APPEARANCE: Thieves’ Gambit
VOICED BY: Kari Wahlgren
Amara Aquilla kept her powers under control via a mutant dampening collar created by the X-Men’s Forge. It worked to control her power, but Amara was devastated when she had to return it. She left for Nova Roma with her father, rather then re attend the Institute.
