“Mojo is not a mutant, nor is he a conventional adversary. He is something far worse – a force of manipulation, spectacle, and unchecked power. He does not seek conquest in the traditional sense; he does not desire territory or political control. Instead, he craves attention, dominance through entertainment, and the absolute submission of those who exist within his twisted domain—the Mojoverse.

The Spineless Ones, the species to which Mojo belongs, were once incapable of movement, reliant on technology to function. But where others sought progress, Mojo sought control. He seized power through the one thing his people valued above all else – television. In the Mojoverse, ratings dictate reality, and Mojo ensures that his rule remains unchallenged by feeding his subjects a never-ending stream of gladiatorial combat, mindless entertainment, and forced performances.

His obsession with the X-Men stems from their ability to captivate audiences. He does not hate us in the way Magneto or Sinister might – he simply sees us as valuable assets, pawns in his ever-expanding empire of spectacle. He has abducted us, rewritten our histories, and forced us into his productions, all in the name of ratings. To him, suffering is entertainment, and free will is an inconvenience.

Yet, despite his grotesque nature, Mojo is not without intelligence. He understands the power of perception, the way narratives shape reality. He has weaponized media in ways that even the most dangerous of our enemies have not. And that, perhaps, is what makes him so dangerous.

Mojo is a reflection of the worst excesses of society – greed, manipulation, and the exploitation of others for amusement. He is a tyrant, but one who rules not through fear alone, but through addiction. His people do not rebel because they do not know how. They are trapped, not by chains, but by the very stories he feeds them.

I do not know if the Mojoverse can ever be freed. But I do know that as long as Mojo exists, he will continue to twist reality to suit his own desires. And that is a threat we must never underestimate.”

APPEARANCES ON-SCREEN (Television)

FIRST APPEARANCE: Mojovision
VOICED BY: Peter Wildman (X-Men); David Errigo Jr. (X-Men ’97)

The mad ruler of the Mojoverse, Mojo first kidnapped the X-Men to use them as brand new entertainment to secure ratings. He kidnapped and placed them in a variety of different shows, all ending in their ‘deaths’ until Longshot intervened. With the X-Men free and, most importantly, his audience bored, Mojo literally saw the house fall on him as his plan failed [Mojovision].

He later followed Longshot to Earth with Spiral where he spotted another opportunity. Kidnapping Jubilee, he lured the X-Men into an arena where they were being watched live, facing deadly scenarios. The X-Men eventually defeated Mojo, who ran from the X-Men’s dimension in fear [Longshot].

He later lured Jubilee and Sunspot into a gaming scenario to replace his latest mutant star. Jubilee, with the help of an alternate version of herself, stopped Mojo and saved Roberto, restoring themselves back in the right dimension [Motendo].

FIRST APPEARANCE: X-Calibre
VOICED BY: Charlie Adler

Mojo had Spiral and her Reavers kidnap Nightcrawler after observing him on a previous mission. He captured Nightcrawler and the Scarlet Witch in an undersea dome and, as he filmed their progress, set a brainwashed Wolverine to hunt them down. Whilst Wolverine was able to overcome his brainwashing, Mojo didn’t fancy becoming the next target of his rage and wisely left Earth [Hunting Grounds].
