“The Morlocks are a stark reminder of the world’s failure to accept those who are different. Unlike the X-Men, who strive for coexistence, the Morlocks have been forced into the shadows, living beneath the streets of New York in abandoned tunnels and forgotten passageways. Their existence is not a choice – it is a necessity, born from the cruelty of a society that rejects them for their appearances rather than their actions.

Callisto, their leader, built this underground refuge as a sanctuary for mutants who could not pass as human. Many of them bear physical mutations that make them targets of fear and hatred, forcing them into isolation. While their methods have often been aggressive, I cannot fault them for their anger. They have been hunted, ridiculed, and massacred – most notably during the Mutant Massacre, when the Marauders slaughtered their community without mercy.

Storm once held leadership over the Morlocks, having defeated Callisto in combat. Though she sought to bring them into the light, many refused, believing the surface world would never accept them. Their distrust of humanity runs deep, and in many ways, it is justified. Even among mutants, they are seen as outcasts, a painful irony that speaks to the divisions within our own kind.

Despite their hardships, the Morlocks endure. They are survivors, bound together by necessity and resilience. Some, like Marrow, have emerged from their ranks to join the X-Men, proving that even those raised in darkness can find their place in the fight for a better future. Others remain below, unwilling or unable to leave the only home they have ever known.

I do not blame them for their reluctance. The world has given them little reason to hope. But I believe that one day, the Morlocks will no longer need to hide. One day, they will walk among us, not as outcasts, but as equals. Until then, they remain a painful testament to the work that still must be done.”
