THE SINS OF THE FATHER
Chapter XIII
Absolute war erupts as Hobgoblin and Green Goblin clash for supremacy, their feud spilling into the city and dragging Spider-Man into the crossfire. Two legacies of madness collide, each determined to claim the mantle of terror.
The theme here is rivalry. Norman Osborn and Jason Macendale embody different shades of obsession — one driven by legacy and vengeance, the other by ambition and greed. Their war is not only for power but for identity, as each seeks to prove himself the true Goblin.
And thus, Spider-Man must battle not one Goblin but two, their vendetta tearing through New York with fire and fury. His struggle is not to defeat them outright, but to survive the storm and protect those caught in its path.
Goblin War! is the story of madness multiplied, a reminder that when obsessions collide, the city itself becomes the battlefield — and Spider-Man stands alone against the chaos.
Lenny Luntz discovers the time dilation accelerator and accidentally unleashes a black portal. Spider-Man saves civilians but is ambushed by the Hobgoblin, who escapes with the device. Using it to rob banks, Hobgoblin secures a final power pack from his spy within Kingpin’s ranks and proposes a partnership. Kingpin agrees, but secretly plots to betray him by pressing Norman Osborn for the Hobgoblin’s identity.
At Jason Phillips and Felicia Hardy’s engagement party, Fisk threatens Norman into revealing the truth. Haunted by visions, Norman succumbs to his Green Goblin persona, vowing to destroy Kingpin, Hobgoblin, and Spider-Man.
Spider-Man intercepts the planned heist, but is overpowered by Kingpin until the Green Goblin crashes in, battling Hobgoblin. Felicia discovers Jason’s hidden arsenal, and when Hobgoblin returns, he unmasks himself as Jason. The Green Goblin, already aware, forces them through a portal to Oscorp, intending to kill them in chemicals.
Spider-Man arrives in time to save Felicia and Jason. The Green Goblin escapes, while Jason is arrested, leaving Felicia devastated by the truth.

This episode is partially based on Amazing Spider-Man #312 – also titled ‘Goblin War!’
There’s more foreshadowing, this time with Felicia, who believes that she’s bad luck – like a black cat…
Thwip Quip: “Sorry. Your boys are a little tied up. Or… make that ‘webbed up’, right now. But I’m sure the police will find them a nice new home.”
