[MUTANT ABILITIES] Manipulation of magnetic fields
…ACCESSING…
PERSONAL NOTES OF CHARLES XAVIER
“There are few mutants who have walked the line between hero and outsider as often as Lorna Dane. She is powerful, intelligent, and capable of great things, yet she has spent much of her life searching for a place to belong. Some would say that is the curse of being Magneto’s daughter. Others would argue that it is simply the nature of those who wield power beyond their own understanding.
Lorna’s abilities mirror those of her father – magnetism, the force that binds the world together. But unlike Erik, she has never sought dominance. She has struggled with control, with identity, with the weight of expectations placed upon her. She has been an X-Man, an Acolyte, a Horseman of Apocalypse, and a reluctant leader. She has been manipulated, broken, and rebuilt, each time emerging stronger but never truly free from the burdens of her past.
Her mind has been tested in ways few could endure. Brainwashing, possession, the loss of her powers – each event has left scars, shaping her into someone who understands the fragility of control. She has fought against herself as much as she has fought against her enemies, and yet she continues to rise, refusing to be defined by the shadows of those who came before her.
I have seen Lorna at her best and at her worst. I have seen her lead, falter, and rise again. She is not Magneto, nor is she simply his daughter. She is Polaris, a force unto herself, and though she may never fully escape the weight of her lineage, she has proven time and again that she is more than the legacy she inherited.
Lorna Dane is a survivor. And in a world that seeks to control those who are different, survival is sometimes the greatest victory of all.”

WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN

FIRST APPEARANCE: Battle Lines
VOICED BY: Liza del Mundo
Polaris, also known as Lorna Dane, is a mutant with magnetic abilities and the daughter of Magneto. Unlike her brother, Quicksilver, who fully embraces Magneto’s ideology, Polaris struggles with the weight of her father’s expectations. She is a member of the mutant sanctuary Genosha, where Magneto rules, but she does not share his extremist views. Her magnetic powers allow her to manipulate metal with precision, making her one of the most formidable mutants on the island.
Throughout, Polaris is caught in the escalating conflict between the X-Men and the Brotherhood. While she remains close to her father, she is not entirely comfortable with his methods, leading to moments of hesitation and doubt. Her relationship with Quicksilver is also strained, as he often acts as Magneto’s enforcer, pushing her toward decisions she is not ready to make.
Her most significant moment comes when Magneto uses her as a pawn in his larger plans, forcing her to take on a more active role in his vision for mutant supremacy. This manipulation highlights her internal struggle – she wants to believe in her father, but she cannot ignore the harm his actions cause. In the alternate version of the future, witnessed by Charles Xavier, Lorna became battle-hardened and insane following the loss of Genosha and stayed away from society in the Badlands.
